In its latest blogpost Arrowhead Game Studio revealed that they have reduced the size of Helldivers 2 to just 23 gigs on PC. You read that right, the game’s new size is around 23 GB, which is a 85% size reduction. Called the Slim beta, you will need to opt into it to get the benefit, here is how to do it.
How to Get The Helldivers 2 PC Size Reduction
- Right Click Helldivers 2 And Click on Properties
- Select the Beta Tab on the left hand corner
- Select prod_slim in the beta participation menu then let the game update
As this is a new update, any mods will break. Be careful about opting for the slim version if you use mods. Arrowhead has also stated that the loading times will not be severely affected by this and there are no gameplay differences when using the Slim beta version. Once it is satisfied with the public beta, Arrowhead will bring it over as the main branch while giving you the option to go to legacy size.
