FFXIV Patch 7.4 Crafting Prep

FFXIV Patch 7.4 Crafting Prep

Written By

FFXIV Patch 7.4 is just a couple of weeks away. Along with getting a new MSQ, we will also get the final raid tier, which means a new set of crafted gear. If this is your first time endgame crafting, here is a list of items you should prepare to earn tons of gil.

FFXIV Patch 7.4 Tomes

With the launch of Patch 7.4 we will get a new set of tomes, Allagan tombstones of mnemonics. This means Allagan tomestones of Heliometry will be discounted and replaced with Allagan tomestones of Mathematics (the current 450 cap ones).

To prepare for a crafting spree at the launch of 7.4, you need to cap out both of the tomestones. While the Heliometry will no longer be used, you can exchange them in Mor Dhona at a rate of 4:1 for Mathematics, effectively giving you 2,500 tomestones right at the start.

The mathematics tomestones will be required to get all new materials, which are expected to cost 20 each.

FFXIV Patch 7.4 Precrafts

While most of the precrafts and materials will be added with the launch of 7.4, there are some items you can already hoard, as they are expected to be used to craft 7.4 combat gear. The precraft and their raw materials are as follows:

  • Claro Walnut Lumber – Claro Walnut Log
  • Thunderyards Silk – Levinsilk
  • Ra’Kaznar Ingot – Ra’Kaznar Ore and Magnesia Powder
  • Black Star – Raw Black Star
  • Magnesia Whetstone – Magnesia Powder
  • Gargantua Leather – Gargantua Hide and Acacia Bark

You can also use the Excel sheet linked below to get the accurate number of raw materials you will need depending on the number of pre-crafts you will be making. Input the value of pre-crafts you want to create and the number of raw materials will be updated automatically.

The calculator only shows precrafts for combat gear. For an extensive list of items that you will require, read below.

FFXIV Patch 7.4 Crafting Prep Raw Materials

Here is a list of all the raw materials that are likely to be used for the upcoming battle gear, BIS food and potions. Do note that this is not a guaranteed item list and might be different from the live patch.

Athersand

  • Levinchrome Athersand – Stack as much as you can, as it’s probably going to be the most used item. Levinchrome will be the only Athersand that will be used for the next patch.

Orange Scrip Items

  • Condensed Solution – Has a chance of being required for recipes, as it’s orange scrip. It’s better to buy it now and stack the scrip for BIS food materials.
  • New Food Items – Patch 7.4 will add new food items that can be purchased with orange scrips only.

Reagents

  • Wind Parsley – Used to create precrafts that will be used in STR-based armour and potions (tanks and melee DPS)
  • Eucalyptus – For INT armour
  • Windsbalm Bay Leaf – For VIT armour
  • Kozama’uka Chamomile – For DEX armour
  • Pearl Grass – For MND armour

If you want to create BIS potions, farm these in excess depending on your requirement. Leave around 10-15 for a gearset.

FFXIV Patch 7.4 Crafting Prep Materia

Aside from crafting, materia is the next best way to earn Gil. Day 1 raiders will meld their gears, which means a quick and easy profit turnaround for everyone else. Getting materia for combat is possible through doing dailies as a required role (mostly tanks) and hunt trains. Spirit bonding is also an option but it’s the slowest way and it’s better to let it happen naturally.
